The Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanquiste was founded in 1985 during the height of conflict in the DR Congo. Led by Armand Diangienda Wabasolele and a small ensemble of instrumentalists, the purpose-during this time of adversity-was to unite the people of the congolese community through classical music. Today The Orschestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste consists of 200 congolese musicians-and have performed for over thousands of people at colosseums in various countries.
The orchestra consists of amateur musicians whom were all trained by Maestro Armand Diangienda Wabasolele. They perform an array of classical musical selections with a distinct African vibe. The orchestra not only strives to create an environment where people can enjoy music, but to also establish a safe haven for its members. The ensemble, unfortunately, recieve no salary for their hard work; however, each musician contributes funds, goods and their time to support the orchestra and their fellow musicians- many of whom struggle to meet their daily needs. The members of The Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste ultimately share the love and joy of creating music and uniting communites.
